Stefani

Woven white dasies, ivy and corn.  64 x 41 cm.

My current work is about myth and metamorphosis aiming to create an impression of my personal mythology in a variety of media. The Stifani is part of Cretan folklore and is made by women in Maytime; they gather the white daisies from the hedgerows and make a garland, which they hang on the door of their home. It is supposed to bring them love. I spent some time in Crete in 2006 and made one of these; this year the same white daisies have spread across my lawn.
